Four of Scotland's most distinguished former players were guests of Scottish Rugby at Murrayfield today as the national squad continued their fitness programme aimed at having them in peak condition for the Bank of Scotland Corporate August Tests and the Rugby World Cup thereafter.
Peter Brown, David Leslie, David Rollo and Ken Scotland met the players and saw the strength and conditioning work they are undertaking, piloted by national fitness coach Mark Bitcon.
Back five forward Brown (West of Scotland and Gala) and full-back Scotland (Heriot's) were both capped 27 times, back-row forward Leslie - who continues to make a remarkable recovery from extensive injuries he sustained after falling from his roof at his home in Dundee while attempting to repair a skylight last September - won 32 caps; and Rollo, a tight-head prop won 40 caps out of the Howe of Fife club.
The celebrated quartet heard details of the programme the players are following from Bitcon then joined members of the Scotland squad for lunch.
Scotland coach Frank Hadden said: "It was good to see four of Scotland's finest rugby players from the past with us today and to hear their views on current trends.
"We will be inviting another group of former internationalists to meet up with the squad next month and learn more about our plans during the second phase of our build-up to Rugby World Cup."
