Six-year-old Calum McMillan has met his hero at St Andrews, the Scotland rugby captain, Jason White.

Calum, who was on a break with his family, is in his second year of treatment for leukaemia at the Schiehallion ward at Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow.

Calum was presented with a signed ball by Jason and other members of the Scotland Rugby World Cup squad.

His mum Carol said: "This will make Calum's day. He's a big fan of Jason's and he really likes Euan Murray too."

The presentation was made when the players returned to the team hotel after a bracing dip in the North Sea and jog along St Andrews West Sands beach, all under the watchful eye of Scotland fitness coach, Mark Bitcon.
