Kellock Commits Until 2010

Glasgow Warriors captain Alastair Kellock has made a statement to the club and its supporters by extending his contract until 2010.

Having joined the Warriors last summer and captained the side through a memorable season, including fifteen wins and a place in the knock-out stages of the European Challenge Cup, Kellock's current deal was due to expire at the end of the forthcoming season, but his aspirations for the West coast pro-team span much further than that.

Speaking ahead of today's Magners League launch in Swansea, Kellock said: "I"m really enjoying my rugby with Glasgow.

"It looks like we"re going places because we have a good squad of players having signed well over the summer and we have a fantastic ground, for both players and supporters, at Firhill Arena.
"I"m originally a Glasgow guy so I"m glad to have signed for a longer period of time and to be part of this very optimistic club."

Warriors head coach Sean Lineen added: "It's great news for Glasgow Warriors and Scotland fans that Al is extending his contract with us.

'there's no doubt he will play a major part with the Scotland national team in the future and it's exciting that he has shown commitment to stay with the Warriors because he is well respected and is developing into a world class performer."

Alastair David Kellock made his first RBS 6 Nations start in Scotland's victory over the French at Murrayfield in February 2006. He made his senior Scotland debut in the non-cap tour game against Queensland Reds on the 2004 summer tour of Australia and followed that by coming on as a replacement in the games against New South Wales Country and New South Wales Waratahs. He went on to gain his first cap in the opening match against Australia at Murrayfield in the 2004 Abbey Autumn Tests, coming on as a replacement and repeated that pattern as he won his second cap against Romania in the summer of 2005. He has twice toured New Zealand on representative duty. On the first occasion, in 1999, he was part of the Scottish Youth tour, while his second trip was with the Glasgow Thistles in 2000. Kellock has represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 levels and remains attached to the Scottish Institute of Sport. He played his club rugby initially with Allan Glen's before moving to Stirling County from where he was awarded his professional contract with Edinburgh. In the summer of 2006, Kellock joined Glasgow Warriors from Edinburgh Gunners.
