Murrayfield'S Smaller Pitch For World Cup

Scotland supporters will notice that the Murrayfield in-goal area for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup games against Romania and New Zealand is a bit shorter that usual!

During the Rugby World Cup the size of the Murrayfield pitch has been altered to bring it into line with those pitches in France. Therefore, the in-goal area will be 10 metres deep instead of 17 metres, as it is for other International matches. The pitch will be 68 metres wide rather than the usual 70.

Murrayfield's head of facilities Mark Laidlaw commented: "We have to bring the Murrayfield pitch into line with what the players are playing on in France. This should not be a problem as all the teams have played at least one game in France, with the shorter in-goal area".

Tickets for the match against Romania are available from £9 via www.scottishrugby.org or, by calling the Murrayfield Ticket Centre on 0131 346 5100 or in person from the Murrayfield Ticket Office.

Supporters are reminded that this game is not live on STV. The broadcast will be only on digital ITV4. So come along to Murrayfield on Tuesday and back Scotland in their first home match of the Rugby World Cup.
