Robinson Confirmed As New Head Coach

EDINBURGH RUGBY have appointed Andy Robinson, the former England and Bath rugby coach, as the club's new head coach._ The high profile appointment was confirmed today (1st October 2007) by Scottish Rugby and Robinson starts work on the three year contract immediately.

Highlights of Robinson's coaching career include his tenure at Bath when they won the Heineken Cup and six years working with England, including his spell as deputy to Clive Woodward when England won the 2003 Rugby World Cup._ Robinson entered coaching in 1997 with Bath after an illustrious playing career as a flanker for both Bath and England.

He is without doubt a successful and proven coach and he is clearly driven to achieve results._ He will significantly complement our professional coaching set up in Scotland.

Andy Robinson said: "My career in rugby has always thrived on challenge and I was instantly attracted to the challenge of taking Edinburgh Rugby forward to the next level._ I was fortunate enough to spend my formative years in rugby at Bath, one of the best club rugby sides in history and I plan to apply what I learned there, and in my international career, to take Edinburgh to new heights."

Gavin Hastings, chairman of Edinburgh Rugby added: "In his twenty one years in senior rugby, as both player and coach, Andy Robinson has delivered time and again._ His appointment to the role of head coach at Edinburgh is a bold, imaginative move that underlines just how serious we are about taking this club forward."
