After being installed as the club's new head coach on Monday, Robinson has been impressed by the vibrancy shown by the squad and also praised coaches Henry Edwards and Rob Moffatt for creating an upbeat spirit amongst the playing staff.

Robinson said: 'the sun has shone this week, the players have trained with enthusiasm and the coaches, Henry Edwards and Rob Moffatt have really worked well. I"ve really enjoyed being back in professional rugby.

"Part of the passion I have is working with coaches and challenging each other in our thinking and also helping to improve players.

"What you want from any team is to have that enthusiasm and I"ve found that here " the energy they have shown is great.

"It shows what a great job Henry and Rob have been doing to have installed that."

Edwards discussed the only major change to the starting line-up with captain Simon Cross ruled out for the match with a shoulder injury and Roland Reid scheduled to start at the base of the scrum.

Edwards said: 'the only change has been through injury. Simon Cross is out with a shoulder problem that he injured last Friday against Ulster.

"We gave him a couple of days to see if he would be fit, but we didn't want to risk it and for it to become a longer term injury. The positive though that has come out of it is that it gives Roland Reid a chance at No8.

"We are trying to be consistent with selection, but sometimes you get injuries and it can create opportunities."

Backs coach Moffatt is adamant Edinburgh will not underestimate Ospreys " even though the Welsh club have struggled during the opening rounds of the new Magners League season.

Moffatt said: "Ospreys are a quality side that won the league last year. They"ve maybe not had the best of starts this season " losing their first three games. But we are expecting a tough game.

'they will be a typical Welsh side " very physical. As Andy said, they boys have trained well and have been enthusiastic all week. I think last week's win will give them a lot of confidence that we can take into the game.

'the players deserve a pat on the back and they have definitely had a spring in their step this week."
