Hogg said: "It was a great event down in Cardiff and it underlined the importance of the Heineken Cup.
"It is also an exciting prospect to captain Edinburgh against Toulouse. It will be my first game at Murrayfield as captain. Previously I have only captained the side away from home, so that will make the match extra special for me.
