Ben Gissing believes Edinburgh will rise to the occasion when French aristocrats Toulouse visit The Castle in the Heineken Cup on Saturday 10 November (kick off 3.30pm).
The Kiwi lock has impressed during the opening stages of the season with his on-field nous and the 32-year-old realises he will need all of his vast experience in order to make a difference against Toulouse.
Nevertheless the former Leinster man is confident that if every player raises the bar regarding their individual contributions then an upset could be on the cards
Gissing said: "I don't know what it is about the Heineken Cup, but everyone seems to lift their game.
'so it doesn't matter who you are playing against; you have to get your job right and hopefully that is good enough.
"But at the end of the day it is just 15 on 15 and if it is your day then it is your day. You can only do as much as you can to make it your day.
"It is going to be a tough game and they will hard to dominate in the forwards. But we are going to look to do that and deny them as much ball as we can."
One factor that Gissing expects will work in Edinburgh's favour is their conditioning and match sharpness after a couple of months of Magners League action.
He added: 'they had their second game last weekend, so hopefully they will be a bit ring-rusty. Hopefully we will have superior fitness over them and that will count in the last 20 minutes."
HEINEKEN CUP SEASON TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE (Toulouse, Leicester, Leinster and one Magners League game) = _50.
