Mike Blair scooped the sponsor's man-of-the-match award after Edinburgh narrowly lost 19-15 to Toulouse in the Heineken Cup Pool Six opener but revealed the side were frustrated they didn't pick up more than just a losing bonus point.
Blair's quickfire passing and alertness enabled Edinburgh to stage a memorable second half comeback and he is adamant the team's self belief is still intact, despite the early set-back.
Blair said: 'there was belief in the changing room before the game started that we had a squad good enough to beat Toulouse at home.
'there were certainly points throughout the game when that became very achievable " when we went one point behind with 12 minutes to go.
"Unfortunately though a few small errors ended up being turnover ball, but there was definitely massive frustration in the dressing room that we should have won the game.
"I think it was important that we kept playing for territory as well. I thought some of the decisions that we made were very positive ones.
'there are some tiny wee things that we need to tinker with to make sure we finish well. We are happy with certain parts of our attacking game, but we just need to be a wee bit more clinical."
