Allister Hogg praised the character shown by his team-mates after Edinburgh narrowly lost 19-15 at Murrayfield against much-fancied Toulouse in the Heineken Cup but acknowledges there is still room for improvement.
Against the odds, Edinburgh staged a memorable fightback and almost caused a huge upset when John Houston crossed over with 12 minutes remaining.
But even though Toulouse clung on to secure the win, captain Hogg revealed he was delighted with the spirit shown by Edinburgh on the day.
Hogg said: 'they are a good bunch of boys. When the international players came back from the World Cup we came into a good atmosphere, everyone gets on really well, does things together and buys into the philosophy that Andy has brought in.
"Everyone is enjoying wearing the Edinburgh jersey and going out and playing for it. I think that shows on the pitch.
"But we need to take it that step further to help us get those wins that we are so desperately close to. Hopefully that will maybe come next week."
