Andy Robinson congratulated Mike Blair on his captain's performance as Edinburgh chalked up the first away win of the season " finishing on top at Ulster on Friday night (30 November).
With Allister Hogg ruled out with a rib injury, Blair was handed the skipper's armband fro the second time in six days and responded by leading the side to two victories.
As a result, head coach Robinson paid tribute to the scrum half and highlighted his importance to the side.
Robinson said: "I thought he was excellent " he led from the front. One thing you want from your captain and especially your nine is that the player is going to lead from the front.
'that is exactly what he did for us and I think he is a smart player. Tactically he played a smart game on the night and in the conditions that was needed.
"We were playing into a wind with Ulster looking for something to give them momentum. So Mike's courage to get his head over the ball and win a couple of turnovers was tremendous."
