Morgan Women in Februarys SCRUM magazineLadies causing a stir at Morgan

Over 30 players have regularly been turning up for training with the Morgan Academy FPs ladies section of late, making it a great success as it was only set up six months ago.

The idea of a ladies section in the Dundee area was the brainchild of Ally MacDonald. She had been playing at Howe of Fife, but poor numbers meant regular fixtures were not fulfilled.

Along with a group of other players she put up posters around local gyms looking for likeminded people and she was enthused when Morgan approached her.

"They saw a ladies section as the next piece in the club's progression and since we held our first session in the summer the response from players in the local area has been tremendous.
"We have had around 35 at training with a mix of experienced players and people new to the sport. It has been really encouraging and I must say the members of Morgan have been great to us," MacDonald said.
The ladies have regularly been playing in National Development League events this season and, which is open to all teams who are not competing in either the SWRU Premier or National Leagues and a series of events are organised at the home clubs of participating teams. With their large numbers Morgan are looking to apply for promotion to the National Leagues for 2008/09.
