Scots Name Unchanged Team For Club International

Scotland have named an unchanged team for their second club international of the season, against Ireland in Dublin on Friday. The Scots, sponsored by Belhaven Best, who accounted for their Welsh counterparts, 34-7, at Caerphilly earlier this month, are expecting a testing encounter. "We know it will be a step-up from the Welsh game. Our experience against the Irish in previous years is that they are a big side with a very physical approach to the forward exchanges," said the Scots' head coach Ian Rankin.

His squad trained yesterday and Rankin expressed his gratitude to club coaches for their management of players during Scottish Hydro Electric Cup ties at the weekend, which ensured players were relatively fresh for the practice. Scotland won the corresponding fixture at Meggetland last year. Rankin added: “That was a massive win for us and I know Ireland will be looking to gain revenge.”

The match will be shown live on RTE2 TV in Ireland but Rankin is hoping that many Scots will head for Donnybrook to encourage his team.
