She said: "On behalf of the Board of the SWRU I am pleased to support and endorse Scottish Women's Rugby's application for the Foundation Level of the Equity Standard and our joint application with the Scottish Rugby Union for the preliminary level.

_x001C_Rugby Union is a game for everyone and it is important that we emphasise that message, reflecting our country's rich diversity.

_x001C_We wish to play our full part in helping Scotland become a fairer place in which the equality of opportunity for all, regardless of their background or circumstances.

_x001C_One of the priorities for the SWRU is to work with the SRU to provide the opportunity to experience this great sport to all parts of the community, especially those groups who in the past have neither embraced our sport nor felt it has offered them a welcome.
