Murrayfield To Host Hearts In Europe

Scottish Rugby's Chief Executive Gordon McKie today welcomed the announcement that Heart of Midlothian Football Club will be returning to play at Murrayfield for their forthcoming European matches, starting with their first ever UEFA Champions League game.

McKie said: "We are very pleased to be able to offer our first class facilities here at Murrayfield for Hearts" European matches and are keen to utilise Murrayfield as a venue for excellence in the sporting, leisure and entertainment business in Scotland. This allows us to make greater use of our stadium and re-invest in the future of Scottish rugby."

Roman Romanov, chairman and acting chief executive of Hearts, said: "The facilities at Murrayfield are much more appropriate for European football than Tynecastle and we are delighted to have negotiated a suitable deal with Scottish Rugby. We do believe that our fans will come out in large numbers for our first European game this season at Murrayfield and there is certain to be a great atmosphere in the stadium."

Gordon McKie added: "We look forward to continuing good working relations with our sporting neighbours to showcase Murrayfield and help more Hearts supporters see their team on the European stage."
