Robinson On Heineken Cup Draw

ImageEdinburgh have been placed in Pool Two of the Heineken Cup for the 2008/2009 season where we will face English champions, London Wasps, Magners League champions, Leinster and French team Castres.

Speaking from Argentina, Edinburgh head coach Andy Robinson said: "We are pleased with the group. We will be able to test ourselves against the champions of England, London Wasps and the Magners League champions, Leinster._

"We look forward to welcoming back both teams to Murrayfield and having Castres in the Pool will be new territory. Overall it is a strong Heineken Cup Pool for Edinburgh and we are looking forward to the challenge ahead."

Meanwhile, summer signing Jim Hamilton admits he was pleased with the draw and that all three of the teams are beatable, especially on home soil at Murrayfield.

Hamilton said: "It is always interesting to find out which teams are in your Pool. Leinster are beatable as the boys showed last year and Castres will be tough because it is always difficult to go over to France, but they are still beatable.

"Wasps, who are seeded first, have been beaten at Murrayfield before in the past. They always turn up for the big games and they will be looking to make amends for not progressing further in the Heineken Cup last year.

'they are a lot of good omens there for Edinburgh. French teams are always a bit unpredictable away from home. It is good that we have got Wasps in pre-season because if we get a big win it could put an element of doubt in their minds.

"I"m sure if you ask any of the Edinburgh players they would say they are quite happy with that draw."
