Godman underlined his qualities as one of Scottish Rugby's leading playmakers while appearing in Scotland's two-Test tour of Argentina after featuring in both Rosario and Buenos Aires.

But the Edinburgh stand-off's other great sporting love is the round ball game, and in particular Hibernian and he was keen to share an "interesting fact" about the location of that opening summer Test match.

Godman said: _x001C_Rosario is the birthplace of Lionel Messi, the latest Argentine football great, who also plays for Barcelona.

Hibs are going to play Barcelona at Murrayfield on 24 July and it would be great to see Messi playing for Barca.

I obviously don't get a chance to watch Hibs that often these days, but I always look out for their results._x001D_

Godman's bond with the Leith-based football team extends beyond that of a normal supporter; it is literally in his blood.

He explained: _x001C_My uncle, Lindsay Muir, used to play for them as a centre-half in the late 1970s and I trained with Hibs when I was younger before I made the choice in my mid-teens to concentrate on my rugby._x001D_

The 26-year-old admits he is really looking forward to seeing Hibernian take on the likes of Thierry Henry and co next month and believes it will be a special event in the capital's sporting calendar.

He added: _x001C_It's just great to have the chance to go to a game like Hibs versus Barcelona, especially at Murrayfield.

I'm sure all the fans will be excited about it. It was a massive game last year when Hearts played Barcelona and it would be terrific if there was a similar size crowd again this year._x001D_
