Hamilton said: "I"m sure in the backs of their minds, the Wasps coaches will be looking to come up here and get a win in pre-season. It is important for them because they know teams struggle to come to Murrayfield and winning.

'the Heineken Cup match is a long way away with pre-season and everything else, but both teams will be looking to get that edge."

When the Heineken Cup Pool stages is in full swing, Hamilton acknowledges the importance of dominating in the engine room, although he stresses it will be a tough challenge.

He added: "If you look throughout the teams, they have all got strong second rows.

'simon Shaw at Wasps has been in the England team while Leinster have got Malcolm O"Kelly and Leo Cullen who are at the top of their game.

'there will be battles all over the field, but from a personal point of view it will be challenging in the second row."
