Also, there are a couple of important notes on the calendar (and important dates for your diary):

The season starts very slightly later this year. In the calendar we have included the suggestion that clubs organise pre-season friendlies just prior to the full season getting underway. This may be especially important for clubs that have performance players playing for them since you will notice that the first round of trials are before the start of the season and I suspect players will not want to go into these cold. Similarly, I know the break over the christmas period does not suit all teams and we encourage any team to suppliment the calendar of events organised by the SWRU with their own friendly matches where appropriate for them thus effectively producing a calendar tailored to their club.

The first NDL event is on the 5th October. This is timed prior to the start of the National League to enable all clubs to send their newer players down to gain some experience and basic coaching. All affiliated clubs are invited to use the NDL (and especially this 1st day) to help develop players. Please inform the NDL manager if you intend sending players along.

The other dates of note coming up are when Club Affiliation and Insurance is due (7th Sept) and the Club Captains meeting (21st Sept).

Hopefully by now you will have all informed the SRU of you up to date contacts for next season. If you haven't please can you do this as a matter of urgency. Club contacts will be published in the rugby record and it is vital that these are up to date.

Finally, please remember to contact your referee soceity with all you fixtures for the season as soon as possible to avoid as any problems and to make sure your games can go ahead as planned.

Good luck for the season

Regards
