August Pathway Ends On A High

The final Pathway fixtures of the August programme gave all the players an opportunity to finish the programme on a high. At The Greenyards, Melrose RFC on Sunday all under 15 Pathway teams from the Borders and east Lothian competed in a round Robin Festival.
Although played in torrential rain, all players produced 6 very even games, with all games being won or lost by 1 score.

At Walkerburn, The West under 16 squad hosted The Edinburgh Eagles. Again played in poor conditions, each squad played some excellent Rugby. The West squad started the game much the stronger of the 2 sides and raced to a 4 try to nil lead at half time, however the Eagles produced some excellent rugby by scoring 3 tries in the second half and were unfortunate to end up the losing side.

At Kelso, the Eastern under 16 squad were hosted by a Kelso Harlequins select. This game was a very tight affair and ended up a 17-17 draw.

All players throughout the programme have made huge gains in all areas of their development. The coaches and players have worked extremely hard on all the key National themes, all of which were evident throughout the month.

The under 15 squads will now be looked at throughout the season at their club/schools, whilst the Under 16 group have an Under 16 District programme to look forward to.

The East will host the West 16's on 8th October at Jed-forest RFC, following which a squad of 30 will be chosen to prepare for the IDC programme in March.
