Clacks 22 v 14 Moray
Clacks continue onto the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup Bowl competition by defeating Moray under 15’s by 22 v 14. This match had previously been scheduled for Sunday 30th November this game fell victim to the sub zero temperatures that have cancelled the past 3 matches. Clacks had 2 new supervising coaches this weekend in Ronnie Innes and Brian Ireland.
Ronnie and Brian reported that Clacks faced a very large physical team who played to their physical advantages throughout the match. The coaches reported that the Clacks tackling to a man was text book, Clacks had difficulty interpreting some of the decisions made in the contact situations as they felt the opposition were continually coming in from the sides and infringing beyond the ball, this in turn slowed Clacks flow of good ball to the backs. Clacks conceded these penalties and free kicks and stood up to the mark and accepted all of the tackles and big hits. Clacks scored 2 unanswered tries in the first half and had another held up over the line.
Second half Clacks were under considerable pressure as they tended to fall foul of the referee continually and conceded lots of procession which allowed the visitors to encamp on Clacks line for lengthy periods where Clacks absorbed all of the big hits and responded with 2 quick fire tries to put the match out of reach for the visitors. Moray got 2 late consolation tries but Clacks were home and dry.
Now it is time for the youngster’s next big test? A away fixture to GHA from Glasgow on Sunday 21st December for a semi final place.
I would like to thank Ronnie and Brian for coaching the team in my absence.
