Alloa RFC 2nd XV 20 Glenrothes RFC 5
Alloa were delighted to be able to field a second senior side for the first time this season. Whilst the 1st XV were comprehensively defeating their Tayside opponents on the adjoining pitch, the second string were also able to notch a victory in their match against Fife neighbours, Glenrothes.
Alloa took the opportunity to re-introduce a few older faces, to provide some experienced back up to their up and coming youth players and this combination paid dividends as they produced a fine display of open running rugby. Jordan Usher, who played well throughout the match, scored the game’s first try after good interpassing in midfield between Neil Russell and David Grainey, created space out wide for the young winger. Second row forward, David Dempsey also scored in the first half, whilst Andy Freck and Philip Edwards scored one apiece in the second period. Glenrothes opened their account with the last move of the match to leave the final scoreline reading Alloa 20- Glenrothes 5.
Alloa are looking to continue to field a second side during the remainder of the season and are currently seeking opponents for Saturday 31st Jan.
