Holders Stirling County will face Currie in the final of Scottish Rugby’s Youth Cup. Stirling saw off GHA 31-6 at Bridgehaugh at the weekend, while Currie won away 31-10 at West of Scotland.
Stirling’s head coach Bob McGowan said: “Although a five try win would suggest a comfortable victory this probably does not tell the true story with territory and possession over the game probably falling in favour of GHA.”
In heavy pitch conditions, Stirling’s points came from tries by wing Jamie Anderson, centre Mark Marchbanks, No 8 Billy McCulloch, wing Craig Robertson and substitute back Robbie Hogg. Stand off Stuart Edwards landed three conversions.
At Burnbrae, Currie reached their first final at this age level through two first-half interception tries from centre Alan Whittingham; a second-half score from hooker Fergus Scott; and a final try from stand-off Robbie Weaver. Scrum-half Joe Stachan (correct) converted all four tries and also goaled a penalty.
Confirmation on the date of the final will be announced in due course.
