Sus Rugby Annual Dinner

Now into a third year under a new format Scottish Universities Rugby is establishing an environment in which everyone can perform, aspire, compete and above all enjoy their rugby. This level of rugby is sometimes under rated but exciting to watch, with the commitment, enthusiasm and skill on display worthy of a much larger audience.

As well as providing league and cup competitions, SUS Rugby are also supporting a University representative team for male students. Under the guidance of coaches Chris Reekie, Mark Coupar and Campbell Scott and assisted by Jacqui Stone (Team Manager), students are put through their paces at trials in October / November from which a squad will be selected to play International fixtures in February and March 2010. This will include a home fixture versus French students and an away fixture against Irish Colleges.

Plans are underway for an annual dinner for Scottish Universities Rugby. We see this as a further building block in growing the community of all those who are involved in playing rugby not only for the representative side but  for all Scottish universities, both past and present.

It will be an occasion for team-mates and friends to share in the friendship rugby brings and for those who have moved away to rekindle old memories and acquaintances.

Stirling County Rugby Club has been booked on Friday 1st May for our very first dinner with guest speakers. The cost will be £20 for students and £25 for non-students. Anyone involved in or interested in SUS Rugby is encouraged to attend. For a booking form please see http://www.susport.org.uk/events.asp?s=2&cat=Rugby&vid=SUS-V10633 .

Only by putting in the effort, making the commitment and enjoying ourselves doing so can we further the experiences Scottish University Rugby can deliver.

SUS are always on the look out for volunteers to assist with the programme, as well as companies or organisations that may be interested in providing sponsorship for the team or programme. All support can be tailored to individual's requirements. Should this be of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact Jacqui Stone: jacqui@susport.org.uk
