The Scottish Hydro Electric Cup competitions reach the penultimate round this Saturday (25 April, kick-off 3pm) with the semi-finalists each gunning for a place on the international pitch at Murrayfield Stadium on Sunday 10 May (where the Plate final kicks off at 10.30am).
Last season’s Cup finalists Heriot’s and Melrose each seek a return to the final and a win over respective opponents Edinburgh Accies and Haddington will be enough to set up the re-match.
Heriot’s will welcome city rivals Edinburgh Accies after knocking out Watsonians with a convincing 44-10 win at Myreside while Melrose host Premier Two opponents Haddington at The Greenyards after the East Lothian outfit stunned the recently promoted Dundee with an ardent 39-16 victory.
Glasgow Hawks, the only Premier One club to feature in the Shield competition this season, face Jed-Forest at Old Anniesland after the withdrawal of Hawick YM. Jed-Forest made the semis after defeating Falkirk 30-12 at home.
In the other semi-final Peebles travel to Park Farm after their resounding 45-22 victory over Glasgow Accies to face Dumfries who, after coming away from Barnton with a 25-10 win over RHC, will be looking to emulate their under-16 counterparts with a trip to the national stadium.
In the Bowl competition the peripatetic Murrayfield Wanderers host one of the two remaining University sides vying for a place in the final, Edinburgh University, in a league and cup double header at Inverleith Park while Ross High travel north to take on Aberdeenshire at the Woodside Sports complex.
Hawick Linden will receive Plate holders Aberdeen University at Volunteer Park and Duns host Dunbar at Hardens Field in the Plate semi-final.
