Gordonians Are Back To Winning Ways

In very good conditions at sunny Countesswells Gordonians were victorious in what was
a thrilling match against Allen Glen's at on Saturday.

Robbie MacGregor gave Gordonians the lead after 7 minutes with a penalty kick. This sparked the home forwards to get going and some strong running and tight support play led to a try by Louis Kinsey on 11 minutes. MacGregor added the conversion.
In the 25th minute Chris Stewart got a nasty cut on his head and was substituted. Neil Miller (the hooker replacement!) was his replacement on the right wing. The game was very close with both sides trying to play open and attacking rugby.
Minutes before half time Allen Glen's got a try back through Auld which was converted byThomson.
At half time former captain Keith Wildridge was taken to hospital as he dislocated his
A minute into the half and Thomson had a chance to put his side in front with a penalty,
but it went wide. MacGregor then got another 3 points for Gordonians through a penalty in the 44th minute.
A very chatty Allen Glen's side were then temporarily reduced to 14 men in the 45th minute
when Convery was yellow carded for talking too much to referee Fraser Anderson.
Gordonians took advantage and scored a try a minute later when Euan Hastie bundled
over after persistent pressure from the home forwards. Into a difficult wind MacGregor
missed the conversion.

The visitors came straight back into it with a kick and chase try eventually finished off by Leary.
Thomson was wide with the conversion.
The game moved end to end for the next 15 minutes.
Jamie Niven attempted his trade mark drop kick from the half way line which the Allan
Glen's winger caught without moving.
Allen Glen's started to get feisty and in the 54th minute Morrison threw the ball at
Gordonians' number nine Jamie Garden. Garden then got Allen Glen's back with a huge
tackle beside the touchline.
Ollie Taylor then scored a great try for Gordonians in the 58th minute which was converted
by Robbie MacGregor. The young winger showed tremendous pace to finish off a nice
back move. Sadly centre Paul Hudson was injured in the build-up
The home backs attempted to run from their own line as they chased the 4th try and a
valuable bonus point but it was not to be.
With both teams tiring the visitors pushed hard for a losing bonus point which they earned
with 4 minutes left on the clock.
Second row Clark scored between the posts with Thomson adding the conversion
The game finished Gordonians 23 Allan Glen's 19.
The man of the match was Louis Kinsey who said “Gordonians had to fight very, very hard
to win that match, right til the final whistle.”
“I am very happy with my try. It was a good team try.”
“We need to improve our fitness, we could maybe have stopped their two tries which
were at the end of each half. We also need to gel as a team more, but that will come over
“Allen Glen's were very tough opponents they gave us a challenge right til the final
