The Glasgow U16 Squad trained for two days through the October Holiday week at Hamilton Palace – 48 players attended both days where the focus was on the Key National Coaching Themes – Hand Catch, Offload, Ball Presentation and Individual Tackle Technique. The players worked hard and initially struggled to adjust to the higher intensity of District level rugby – coaches Jim McKay & George McMillan took the players through the sessions and eventually the players began to raise the speed and accuracy of the practices. By day 2 the players were slightly jaded, but instead of standards dropping –the boys knuckled down and produced some excellent examples of aggressive tackling and accurate ball presentation. Great qualities were shown through these sessions.
These qualities linked, to before the boys had started the first session – they met as a squad and decided to lay down some ground rules for the Program ahead - The squad agreed 4 basic ground rules – for both players and coaches:
The players followed these ground rules through the camp – well done boys.
