The Rugby Football Union will host the world's best 12 teams in August and September as they will battle it out over 30 matches, all aiming to be crowned the world champions on September 5th. New Zealand are the reigning world champions but hosts England, ranked second, will certainly be looking to take advantage of their home status.

The showpiece tournament kicks-off on August 20th at the impressive new multi-million pound Surrey Sports Park in Guildford with all the pool games staged at that venue. Twickenham's The Stoop, home of Guinness Premiership side Harlequins, will then provide a fitting finale to the tournament with the semi finals and final staged at the 14,200 capacity stadium.

England Captain Catherine Spencer, who this weekend guided her side to a record breaking fifth successive RBS 6 Nations title and Grand Slam crown, said: "Tickets for the WRWC 2010 go on sale today and we really want all England rugby fans to come and support us!

"The players are so excited about taking part in a World Cup on home soil. We have been training hard and building up to this tournament for several years and I'm sure that the games will demonstrate this commitment. Having beaten the world champions at Twickenham in November we go into this tournament with confidence and the knowledge that we are capable of beating the best teams in the world.

"I think this will be the biggest and best world cup yet. There will be a great atmosphere and brilliant rugby on show and for us having home support will be vital - it will be like the 16th man on the pitch. It will also be a great opportunity for anyone who has not experienced top level women's rugby to come along and enjoy the spectacle first hand."

The innovative ticketing structure features tournament passes and individual match day tickets starting at just £10. In another exciting link-up rugby fans who buy tickets for the WRWC 2010 will automatically be put on a priority ticketing information list for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Fans that purchase tickets for the WRWC 2010 event will be added to a database and will receive information and updates from the RFU on the RWC 2015 tournament plans as they unfold, including information on the RWC 2015 public ticketing process.

Paul Vaughan, the RFU's Business Operations Director, said: "This is a really exciting chance for England Rugby fans to capture the magic of two Rugby World Cups.

"The Women's Rugby World Cup 2010 and the Rugby World Cup 2015 in England is a golden opportunity to expand the game in this country, and at the same time showcase global rugby at its best. The ticketing link-up between both world cups is an exciting step forward, and we hope rugby supporters will be eager to take up this offer."

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset added: "There are more women playing Rugby than ever before, attendances continue to rise and the announcement of this exciting ticket policy together with ten live matches from Sky Sports as host broadcaster and provision to stream matches live on irb.com, will mean more people than ever will have access to the tournament."
