Andrew Dunlop, Ayr’s stalwart back-row player, has had a significant impact on the performance of the Millbrae side this season and is excited at the closing stages of what has been a long, arduous campaign. “We have only lost one league game this year, performed well in the British and Irish Cup and have the Cup Final to look forward to this Saturday – yet winning everything or nothing is all on a knife edge!”
“Dunny,” pictured here in Saturday’s emphatic 39-20 win against a strong Dundee HSFP side, has more than a passing interest in the Cup Final since as a trainee accountant, working with club President Billy McHarg’s firm, he has been responsible for masterminding the Ayr Cup Final ticket sales and telephone hotline. “It’s been incredibly busy with a constant stream of phone-calls, visitors to the office and ticket sales at the club. Everywhere you go in the town there’s an interest in the big game against Melrose,” he said.
