Wednesday past saw a large party of pupils and accompanying adults, including Graeme Paterson of Peebles RFC, leave the High School for the rugby and hockey tour to Canada – we wish them well in all of their matches and hope that an enjoyable time is had by all.
Congratulations go to former Peebles wing Callum Anderson – now of Melrose – who was drafted into the Scotland 7’s squad at Twickenham in place of the injured Fraser Harkness of Selkirk. Despite a disappointing first day Scotland came good on day two to win the Bowl competition.
Tonight the annual club dinner will be held in the Eastgate clubrooms. Dinner convenor Allan Beveridge has again come up with an interesting array of speakers in Jimmy Moffat – Tweeddale Rovers, Drew Moore – Peebles RFC, Archie Ferguson – SRU Council Member and Scott Tomlinson – Selkirk RFC. Members should also note that, in order to accommodate the visiting guests and speakers upon arrival, the small lounge bar will be closed until 8:00pm.
Next Friday sees the Peebles Concert Band entertaining in the clubrooms – members are asked to support this event.
Next Saturday there will be a quiz night in favour of Peebles High School Zambia Project – the night is being hosted by ex-Colt Liam Hope – members are urged to support this very worthy cause.
Preparations are now under way for the club AGM which will be held on Friday 1st July in the Eastgate clubrooms – all members are asked to make the effort to attend. Details are now available on the club noticeboard.
Later this summer Peebles RFC DO George Blair will be running a summer camp in conjunction with Peebles High School Rugby – look out for details in Gytes Gossip.
