As part of Scottish Rugby’s talent identification and player development strategy, we will be running a regional performance programme for under-18 girls and a talent identification programme for under-15 girls during the summer. Please find below information on how to get involved plus links to registration and consent forms for those who wish to apply to trial.U18 Regional Girls Programme
Selection will be based on athletic ability, rugby potential, attitude and commitment.
We would encourage girls born in 1994, 1995 and 1996, who have the athletic ability and enthusiasm for rugby that could lead to a future place within the national under-20 squad, to come along.
We will be selecting four under-18 girls’ squads to represent north west (Inverness), north east (Aberdeenshire area), south west (Glasgow) and south east (Edinburgh).
Regional trials will be held on 19 June 2011
(10am registration – 2.30pm finish) at:
North East – Aberdeenshire RFC
North West – Highland RFC
South East – FettesSouth West – BURNBRAE
At each trial a squad of 22-26 players will be selected, and names will be posted on the web site. The selected squads will then take part in the following activity between June and August 2011*: (venues to be confirmed post trials)
• Regional training day – 3 July
• Weekend training camp, including an inter-regional match, on 23 and 24 July
• (The combined north west and south west squads’ camp will take place in Oban whilst the combined north east and south east squads will be in Dundee)
• Regional training day – 7 August
• Inter-regional matches – 21 August
(There will be no cost to players to participate in this programme)
At the end of the programme players of the appropriate age and ability will be recommended to trial for the under-20 Scotland Women's squad (October 2011). Under-15 Talent ID Programme
We would encourage girls born in 1997, 1998, 1999, who have the athletic ability and enthusiasm for rugby that could lead to a future place within the national under-20s squad, to come along.
We will be selecting two talent development groups from the four talent ID days, held on 3 July 2011
(10am registration – 2.30pm finish) at four regional centres (venues to be confirmed
The two training groups will take part in skills development training on 7 and 21 August. Identified players will then be given an individual player development plan to help them progress into the under-18 programme in the future. Girls of the appropriate age and ability will then be recommended to trial for the under-18 regional programme the following season.ADMINISTRATION

Jenny Macleod, Scottish Rugby, Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, EH12 5PJNB: Players who do not return the consent form prior to the event will not be permitted to participate without a parent / guardian being present on the trials day to sign the form.
