Last Friday over 90 members and guests took their places along with the top table speakers for the annual dinner of Peebles RFC marking our traditional end of the season. After an excellent meal – prepared by Mrs Nisbet – the company were entertained by some excellent and thought provoking speeches by the four main speakers, including an amusing song written by Scott Tomlinson of Selkirk who had the whole company joining in the chorus to the tune of Davy Crockett, – topped off with the vote of thanks by Jim Currie who, in his own inimitable style, also gave food for thought with his observations of what had gone before. In all, a fine enjoyable evening was had by the whole company – special thanks are due to the Colts who provided the waiting service, to the bar staff and to Mrs Nisbet and her team for the excellent meal. Awards were made to Euan Jackson – first XV player of the year, Rhys Wilson – second XV player of the year, Dalton Hall – colts player of the year, Martin Cruickshank – the Barker Quaich and to Allan Beveridge – the President’s Trophy for service to the club.
