Last Friday saw the club hold its AGM in the Eastgate clubrooms – after the various reports were presented the office bearers were elected with Lindsay Laird holding the Presidency for another season. Graeme Paterson was duly elected to succeed Robert Hogarth as Director of Rugby, Robert having relinquished the role to take up the Presidency of the Border league for this coming season and also to take up a place on the SRU Championship Committee. The only other major change is that of treasurer, the committee having been informed of Gerard Bony’s intended retirement from the position, however as no candidate has stepped forward the search goes on to recruit a successor.
This coming Sunday afternoon (10th July) the President of the club Lindsay Laird will be hosting the annual volunteers’ event which this year takes the form of a barbeque at the clubrooms. The club values the work done by the volunteers very highly and this is a way of rewarding the efforts put in by them.
Players and potential players are reminded that pre-season fitness training and conditioning begins this coming Monday 11th July up at Hay Lodge. A good turnout is hoped for as we face a season which is very important as we aim to push forward and secure our position at least in the second tier of Scottish club rugby for season 2012/13 and beyond when the new smaller leagues within the new structure come into play.
