It was another exciting weekend in RBS Premier 1 with the Bill McLaren Shield up for competition for the first time and all 12 teams looking to stake their early claims in pursuit of the title.
Boroughmuir were the victors at Mansfield Park squeezing past the hosts nine points to seven in a very close encounter for the Bill McLaren Shield. With Boroughmuir claiming the silverware, the trophy travelled to Meggetland.
Stirling County will be the next team with a chance to get their hands on the Shield when they play Boroughmuir at Meggetland this coming Saturday (10 September).
Elsewhere in the competition, Edinburgh Accies held Glasgow Hawks at 22 points apiece at Raeburn Place; Dundee HSFP and Melrose both exceeded 35 points in their home ties with Aberdeen Grammar (36-29) and Currie (39-16) respectively; and finally, Ayr and Heriot’s were both victorious on the road. Ayr won 20-13 at Gala and Heriot’s won 29-13 at Stirling County.
After week two Melrose are back at the top of the table sitting one point above Heriot’s, Ayr and Dundee HSFP.
