Gytes Gossip

Last Saturday Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles travelled through to   Laigh Bent to play Hamilton in RBS Premier 2. The home side has had a really good run this season and in the early stages were dominant as Peebles had a faltering start to the game going down 14 – 0 within minutes however the Peebles ship was steadied and they clawed their way back into the match and at the end were the dominant force but unfortunately lost heartbreakingly by 24-22 having outscored their hosts by 4 tries to 3. So the good support which had travelled through to support Peebles could only reflect on what might have been as the team returned with two bonus points instead of a possible 5 had they just managed to get one final breakthrough.

The seconds supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com were also away when they travel into Edinburgh to face RHC in RBS Reserve League East 1. Continuing their good run of form they returned with a 39-17 win to stay in the hunt near the top of the league table.

The Colts – supported by BARC – had Peebles to themselves, as the only side at home, when they played Duns Colts in the Border Semi-Junior League at the Gytes. The supporters who went down to the Gytes were not let down as the boys put the visitors to the sword recording a 76-0 win.

Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles are at the Gytes for their final match in RBS Premier Division 2 before the break when they will play Falkirk. Match sponsors tomorrow are Joe Parkinson, Ken Bowie and their guests.

The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – are also at home when they play Boroughmuir 3rds in an RBS Reserve League East 1 fixture.

The Colts – supported by BARC – face the long trek to the coast to play Berwick Colts in the Border Semi-Junior League.

Congratulations go to three young Peebles players, Richard Harrison, Scott Halliday and Cameron Pye, who were selected for the  Edinburgh Blacks and Reds teams which played their Glasgow counterparts in the national under-17 selection matches on the back pitches at Murrayfield.
