RBS Premier 1 concluded today with more dramatic results recorded across the country.
Melrose defeated Gala by a single point at Netherdale which ended the hosts hopes of an inscription on the Bill McLaren Shield, 17-16; Stirling County continued their new found form at Bridgehaugh, recording a win over all three British and Irish Cup teams in as many weeks, with a win over Ayr, 32-5 and Currie tallied up 47 points on the road to Accies, 47-3.
Melrose head coach, Craig Chalmers, said: “It was a very tough game but I’m delighted with the win and the performance the boys put in, especially in the closing minutes.
“I’m really pleased Gala are doing well in the league as long as they don’t finish above us!”
Elsewhere, Dundee HSFP beat Heriot’s 23-22 at Mayfield and Glasgow Hawks stopped Hawick from recording a victory in RBS Premier 1 winning 23-8 at Mansfield Park
