Uddingston’s U18 squad had better success on Saturday when the hosted local rivals Hamilton in their West Regional Development League fixture. An excellent team performance from the young Uddingston side saw them claim full points with an excellent 26-7 victory in the top of the table clash.
First half tries by winger Ross Grant and centre Richard Murray, which were both converted by Murray gave Uddingston a 14 point lead. Just before half time Hamilton scored a converted try to make the score 14 – 7 at the break.
Despite a flurry of second half substitutions by Hamilton the Villagers held strong and their spirit and all round team performance resulted in a further two tries being secured through No. 8 Ross McKeown and winger Jack Crichton, the former of which was again converted by Murray from out near the touchline.
Uddingston have two fixtures left to play in the U18 Development League starting this coming Saturday, 19/11, with a trip to Stranraer to face Wigtownshire.
