Gytes Gossip

The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – played Lasswade at the Gytes in an RBS Reserve League East 1 game – a strong seconds team recorded a 64-7 victory.

The Colts – supported by BARC – were also at home for the Border Semi-Junior league fixture with Tynedale Colts. The Peebles boys maintained their good form in winning by 19-14 - in a game played in atrocious conditions.

Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles will be playing Hawick at the Gytes in another RBS Border regional Cup qualifier – kick-off is at 3:00pm. Pitchside catering will be by Thomson’s Snack Van. This match is sponsored by Renwick and Weir Joiners and Builders; the ‘Lyne Station Crew’; Euan McMillan and Drew Walker; the Jerseystretchers; Eric Gilmour; J Thomson and Linda Murray.

 Last Saturday saw Jim Currie host a very successful St Andrews Day shindig in the Eastgate Clubrooms – a fine time was had by all who attended. The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ competition was won by Sandy Smellie partnered by wife Caitlin – we hope to see Sandy show us his moves on the rugby field as well as the dance floor in the not too distant future.
 
 This coming Thursday 8th December is ‘Meet the Squad’ night in the Eastgate Clubrooms at 7:30 – come along enjoy a simple meal and get to know the squad. Tickets £5.

 Next Saturday 10th December there will be evening entertainment in the Eastgate Clubrooms from 8:00pm with Little Miss Dynamite.

And finally – if you want to become involved with the club as a player, as a volunteer or just as a supporter and member, please come along to the clubrooms after a match, or, to the Gytes when the firsts are playing, make yourself known to any committee member (some of us are the guys working on the gate) and you will be made most welcome. For intending players come along to the Gytes on any Tuesday or Thursday night from 7:00pm when training takes place, meet the coaches and players, when again you will find a warm welcome.
