Last Saturday Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles played Hawick at the Gytes in another RBS Border regional Cup qualifier. On a soft pitch both sides tried to play open rugby but unfortunately for Peebles the visitors from Hawick proved to be too strong and ran out 37-7 winners although a small crumb of comfort can be drawn from the home side outscoring the visitors after the break.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – were due to play Murrayfield Wanderers in RBS Reserve League East 1 but the match was postponed.
The Colts – supported by BARC – played Hawick Wanderers in the Border Semi-Junior League at Violet Bank - Hay Lodge having been deemed unplayable. In a tight contest the Wands shaded it by 13-8 to give the Hawick sides a double over Peebles on the day.
Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles have another home fixture when Selkirk will be the visitors to the Gytes in an RBS Border Regional Cup Qualifier – kick-off 3:00pm. Pitchside catering will be by Risotto4U and the match is sponsored by ARMAC Veterinary Group and Shirley’s Gang.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com - are again on the road for an RBS Reserve League East 1 fixture with Edinburgh Accies – kick-off 2:00pm for those going to support.
The Colts – supported by BARC – are also away from home when they travel to Melrose to play the Wasps in the Border Semi-Junior League – kick-off 2:00pm for travelling fans.
Also tomorrow a barmy army of veterans led by the inimitable Jim Currie travel up to Biggar to play their counterparts at Hartree Mill. The troops leave at 12:15pm for a 2:00pm kick-off – we wish them well – when they will return nobody knows!
Tomorrow there will be evening entertainment in the Eastgate Clubrooms from 8:00pm with Little Miss Dynamite.
Looking for that special present for the rugby fan in your life – then McGrath’s in the Eastgate is the place for you where you will be able to buy all sorts of club goodies to fill their stocking!
And finally – if you want to become involved with the club as a player, as a volunteer or just as a supporter and member, please come along to the clubrooms after a match, or, to the Gytes when the firsts are playing, make yourself known to any committee member (some of us are the guys working on the gate) and you will be made most welcome. For intending players come along to the Gytes on any Tuesday or Thursday night from 7:00pm when training takes place, meet the coaches and players, when again you will find a warm welcome.
