Edinburgh Under 18 Extended Squad Announced For 2011/12

Following watching many school and club games over the early part of the season, the Edinburgh Under 18 management would like to announce the following 32 players who have been selected for the extended squad. The players will have 5 training sessions held over the 7th, 10th and 11th December, before the final 23 will be chosen to play against the Borders on the 18th December in the National Selection Fixture. Following this match the national selectors will confirm their extended squad for a national trial, held on 3rd / 4th March, and lead into preparation for the international u18 programme.
Head coach Duncan Harrison said ‘There is a lot of competition for places within this Edinburgh squad and I am looking forward to seeing them competing hard for regional places and thereafter for spots in the national squad. This is a fantastic opportunity for these young players to put their hand up and promote themselves to the new national u18 coach.’ He went on to say ‘The Edinburgh programme is very condensed this year which means that the players have to work hard to gel together and quickly learn to work alongside players from different schools and clubs. This reflects what it will be like when the boys step up to international rugby where the number of sessions to prepare is limited’
