A farmer from Dumfries is delighted to receive the RBS Try of the Month for December today after a long injury run and return to form.

Dumfries Saints winger, Johnnie Sloan scored the try on Saturday 3 December against Howe of Fife in RBS Premier 3. The Saints currently sit in second place in the league two points behind their opponents on 3 December.

Sloan said: “This was a big game for us as it was first against second in the league, unfortunately we lost (16-20) but it was good for me as it was the first try I had scored in a while.

“The rest of the team put in some hard work to create the opportunity and I was fortunate enough to be in space to run in the score.”

The 25 year-old has played rugby with the club since he was in Primary 4 and had his first game with the senior team when he was 16. He has played for the side on the wing ever since, apart from two years where he played with West of Scotland.

RBS Try of the Month for December was given the nod by Scotland head coach, Andy Robinson.
