The RBS Try of the Month award for January has today been awarded to a rugby player for his first ever senior rugby score.
Stewart Alexander, 22, of Greenock Wanderers scored the try on Saturday 14 January against GHA soon after coming off the bench and making his first XV debut.
He said: “I’m really proud and very happy to have won this award. I had not long come off the bench and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
“We didn’t win the game, but we are working hard to finish in the top half of RBS Premier 3 having been promoted at the end of last season.”
Alexander is a building engineer and has played with the club since he was five years old.
This month Edinburgh Rugby head coach Michael Bradley declared Stewart Alexander winner of the award.
