On Friday 17th Peebles High School qualified for the final of the Brewin-Dolphin Under-16 Schools Plate by defeating Linlithgow 22 – 0. The final was due to be played on Wednesday 22nd at Murrayfield. Congratulations to the boys and their coaches on this achievement.

Last Saturday Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles travelled up to Hartree Mill for the local derby with Biggar in RBS Premier C but lost a tight game by 8 – 3 staying in bottom spot in the table 9 points adrift of that elusive fourth spot required to go into the national league next season with four games still to play.

The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – were also due to be away in Edinburgh to play Forrester in RBS Reserve League East 1 but the match had to be called off due to a lack of players.

The Colts – supported by BARC – travelled through to Hamilton to play their RBS National Youth Under 18 Cup tie but lost 17 – 8 and now move down into the Bowl competition.
 
 Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles travel through to Sunnyside to play Falkirk in a re-arranged RBS Premier C fixture – kick-off is at 3:00pm. A good travelling support would be welcomed by players and coaches

 The seconds – supported by FIRST  XV and rugbystuff.com – are playing Selkirk 2nds in the Border Cup at home kick-off 3:00pm at Hay Lodge.

 The Colts – supported by BARC - play  Melrose Wasps  in the RBS National Youth Under 18 Bowl competition at the Gytes kick-off is 3:00pm  all support is welcome.

 Tomorrow there will be a coffee morning in the Eastgate Clubrooms in support of Motor Neurone Charities – from 10:00am till noon – usual stalls.

 This coming Sunday 26th February – prior to the Scotland v France RBS Six Nations match which kicks-off at 3:00-pm – Jim Currie will be hosting his successful carvery in the Eastgate Clubrooms – the match will as usual be shown on the big screen.

 On Saturday 3rd March there will be an Elvis Night held in the Eastgate Clubrooms – this event is being hosted by Peebles Rovers FC.

 On Friday 9th March the Annual Manor Sheep Dog Trials Dinner Dance will be held in the Eastgate Clubrooms.

 Saturday 10th March sees Scotland play Ireland in the RBS Six Nations in Dublin – the match which kicks-off at 5:00pm will be shown on the big screen in the Eastgate Clubrooms.

 On Friday 16th March there will be a quiz night in the Eastgate Clubrooms when teams of 4 will have their mental abilities put to the test – courtesy of quizmaster and question-setter Davy Cornwall. All proceeds from the night will go to Motor Neurone Charities.

 Saturday 17th March is the grand finale of the RBS Six Nations and all three matches will be shown in the Eastgate Clubrooms on the big screen starting with the Italy v Scotland game from Rome which has a 12:30 kick-off. Later in the evening there will be a St Patrick’s Day disco at 9:00pm.

 On Sunday 18th March in the Eastgate Clubrooms at 2:00pm Peebles Concert Band is presenting a concert for children aged 1 - 12 years. It's called KIDS FOR A QUID because that's the price of a ticket - £1.00. Adults may come along but they must be accompanied by a responsible child !! (That just means really young ones must be with their mum and/or dad )
Tickets may be bought at the door. Also on the bill we have the Junior Band playing a short programme and this will be followed by "HAVE A GO" when anyone can have a go at playing one of the spare instruments on display. Who knows what hidden talent might be out there !
This year the Peebles Sevens – part of the Kings of the Sevens Series – takes place on Sunday 29th April – for details of the special sponsorship packages available in conjunction with the sevens see the club website or contact either Gerard Bony or Davy Swan. There will be the usual Peebles 7’s disco starting at 7:00pm.
