Lanark Rugby Club’s league game against Mid Argyll on Saturday was cancelled. The Lochgilphead side, who are known to be struggling this season to fulfil their fixtures, called off. This gave Lanark the chance to fix a game with Dalziel Rugby Club.
It was a much needed opportunity to get back into some competitive rugby, Lanark having played only once since early December.
The result was 22 – 5 in Lanark’s favour with Steve McKeown, Scott Imray and Marcus Fraser earning the points although a strong Dalziel pack kept the visitors well supplied with the ball and made for a close game.
This Saturday Lanark travel to Arran for what could be the crunch game of their season. The islanders with their weekend win now top the league although Lanark have a game in hand and claimed the honours when they met earlier in the season.
A bus will be leaving from the Crown Tavern, Hope Street at 9.45am and stopping at the Crown Hotel Carluke at 10am. It is hoped there will be a good turnout of supporters able to join the team for this key match.
