Review: U17 FOSROC Academy Festival

Caledonia U17 and Edinburgh U17 both picked up two wins from two in Sunday's U17 FOSROC Festival where the regional academy sides were joined by Newcastle Falcons U17 at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

Played on the back pitches, each team played two 40-minute fixtures across the day.

The results across the day were:

Caledonia U17 47-7 Newcastle Falcons U17
Edinburgh U17 36-17 Glasgow & the West U17
Edinburgh U17 27-7 Newcastle Falcons U17
Glasgow & the West U17 20-17 Borders & East Lothian U17
Caledonia U17 38-19 Borders & East Lothian U17

Next up for the Scottish Rugby male pathway is the U16 inter-city derbies. Two Edinburgh Rugby U16 sides will take on two Glasgow Warriors U16 sides at Hive Stadium on Sunday.

Head of Pathways John Fletcher said: “Firstly, I want to thank Newcastle Falcons for sending a team up. It was beneficial for us to have a different style to play against.

“Our U17 regional sides went for it both sides of the ball, and I thought we saw lots of the skills on show from all of our teams.

“We now look forward to this weekend’s U16 inter-city derbies. Having four teams getting the opportunity to represent our pro teams is great and I’m sure it will be a great experience for all involved.”
