Last Saturday Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles travelled through to Sunnyside to play Falkirk in RBS Premier C but were well beaten by 26 – 10.losing ground on the teams above them in the table and remaining in bottom spot in the table 10 points adrift of that 4th spot – now with only 3 games left albeit all at home.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – were due to be at home against Selkirk in the Border cup but the game was called off.
The Colts – supported by BARC – were at home playing Melrose Wasps in the RBS National Youth Under 18 Bowl and won a tight and tense encounter by 8 – 0 to progress to the semi-final stage where they have a home draw against Greenock Wanderers – the match to be played on either 21st or 22nd April.
Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles have a home game against Whitecraigs in RBS Premier C at the Gytes – kick-off is at 3:00pm. A big support will be needed to help the team to a win which will be vital if they are to have a chance of reaching the top 4. The match sponsors are ‘The Class of 82-83’, and Tom Walker and Sons, with the matchball being sponsored by Andrew Barr. Pitchside catering will be by Thomson’s Snack Van.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – are also playing at home against RHC 2nds in RBS Reserve League East 1 - kick-off 3:00pm at Hay Lodge.
The Colts – supported by BARC - play Selkirk YC in the 1st round of the Borders Cup with the loser dropping into the Plate. So still a lot to play for in the Colts season. Kick-off will be 3:00pm at Peebles High School.
Tomorrow there will be an Elvis Night held in the Eastgate Clubrooms – this event is being hosted by Peebles Rovers FC.
Le Roc Jive had a break this week but is back on Tuesday 6 March for a short 4 week course, then back to normal for a 7 week course from Tuesday 17 April.
On Friday 9th March the Annual Manor Sheep Dog Trials Dinner Dance will be held in the Eastgate Clubrooms.
On Saturday 10th March the Gutterbluids Society is holding a fundraising coffee morning in the Eastgate Clubrooms – usual stalls from 10:00am till 12:00 noon. The Gutterbluids do a lot of work for the town and are worthy of a big support for their fundraiser.
Saturday 10th March sees Scotland play Ireland in the RBS Six Nations in Dublin – the match which kicks-off at 5:00pm will be shown on the big screen in the Eastgate Clubrooms.
On Friday 16th March there will be a quiz night in the Eastgate Clubrooms when teams of 4 will have their mental abilities put to the test – courtesy of quizmaster and question-setter Davy Cornwall. All proceeds from the night will go to Motor Neurone Charities.
Saturday 17th March is the grand finale of the RBS Six Nations and all three matches will be shown in the Eastgate Clubrooms on the big screen starting with the Italy v Scotland game from Rome which has a 12:30 kick-off. Later in the evening there will be a St Patrick’s Day disco at 9:00pm.
On Sunday 18th March in the Eastgate Clubrooms at 2:00pm Peebles Concert Band is presenting a concert for children aged 1 - 12 years. It's called KIDS FOR A QUID because that's the price of a ticket - £1.00. Adults may come along but they must be accompanied by a responsible child !! (That just means really young ones must be with their mum and/or dad )
Tickets may be bought at the door. Also on the bill we have the Junior Band playing a short programme and this will be followed by "HAVE A GO" when anyone can have a go at playing one of the spare instruments on display. Who knows what hidden talent might be out there !
This year the Peebles Sevens – part of the Kings of the Sevens Series – takes place on Sunday 29th April – for details of the special sponsorship packages available in conjunction with the sevens see the club website or contact either Gerard Bony or Davy Swan. There will be the usual Peebles 7’s disco starting at 7:00pm.
