Scottish Rugby and RBS are delighted to award the RBS Try of the Month for February to Rob Ritchie of Portobello first XV.
Ritchie, 32, scored the winning try and his fifth this season last month against the team with whom he has spent the majority of his 15 year rugby career, North Berwick. Portobello won the match 31-14.
He said: “It’s a real honour to win this award and to be recognised at this level.
“A few of my team-mates have won awards before but I never expected to win anything myself, I’m really proud.
“North Berwick were the team I grew up in so there was mixed feelings scoring against them, but there’s always a big smile on my face when I run up the park and have the chance to cross the line.”
Ritchie is a technical advisor for Standard Life in his day-to-day job and joined Portobello at the beginning of this season.
This month’s try was given the nod by Scotland under-18 head coach, Eddie Pollock.
