Last Friday night the Colts – supported by BARC – travelled down to Kelso to play the Harlequins in the Borders Plate semi-final under the Poynder Park floodlights. A storming performance by the Colts saw them dominate the game and progress to the final with a 45 – 5 win. Congratulations to all involved coaches, players, and support staff. The final is due to be played on Saturday 31st March with the venue still to be decided and Jed Thistle providing the opposition but wherever the game is the Colts would welcome a big support on the day.
Last Saturday Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles played Hillhead –Jordanhill in RBS Premier C at the Gytes. A tight game finished with honours even at 19 – 19. Peebles having lead by 12 – 0 at half-time went 12-19 behind following sustained Hills pressure in the second half but came good with a converted try at the end to claim the draw.
Last Thursday saw the final round of the Peebles Darts league with the Ex –Service team taking the title in the Rugby Club after drawing with Harry Peat’s Rugby GHB side.
A successful quiz night was held in the Eastgate Clubrooms last Friday when the teams were fully tested by quizmaster and question-setter Davy Cornwall – the winning team were. All proceeds from the night will go to Motor Neurone Charities.
Tomorrow sees Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles play local rivals Selkirk in their final RBS Premier C fixture and as usual the fans of both sides can look forward to a feisty encounter with plenty to discuss in the bar after the game when the banter will be lively. The match is sponsored by ‘The Peebles RFC Jerseystretchers’ and the minis coaching staff.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – are on the road tomorrow into Edinburgh to play Boroughmuir 3rds at Meggetland in RBS Reserve League East 1 – kick-off is at 3:00pm.
Sunday sees the Peebles Colts sevens take place at the Gytes – this is the first tournament in the Semi-Junior series – first tie kicks off at 1:30 pm – hosts Peebles are drawn with Jed Thistle in the final tie of the first round.
On Saturday 31st March Peebles RFC is holding a ‘Take Me Out’ night starting at 7:00pm followed by a disco.
On Sunday 13th May David Swan, wife Jennifer-Anne and a large group of family and friends will be tackling the 22km of the John Buchan Way from Broughton to Peebles on a sponsored walk to raise funds for Alzheimers Scotland in recognition of the support given by the organization when Jennifer-Anne’s father Jimmy Marshall suffered from the disease.
