Scotland 7s continued their preparations for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, at the weekend in the bright sunshine today, with a joint training session with France.
The teams ran through some set plays together taking turns to attack and defend each other at the Glasgow University Sports complex at Garscube in the north of the city.
It was a chance for both teams to see where their preparations were at and for full-back Jim Thompson a first blow out back in the abbreviated game.
He said: “It was good to have a go at the sevens way today against another team, working on attack and defence, so a very worthwhile exercise.
“It’s really enjoyable being back playing the abbreviated game and there is a really good bunch of boys in the squad who are all looking forward to playing at Scotstoun.”
Tickets are still on sale for the event on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May with a wealth of fast paced international rugby being played on both days from 10.30am right through to the evening. Tickets are available from www.glasgow7s.com/buy-tickets.
Scotland 7s take on Wales (11.58am), South Africa (3.04pm) and Russia (5.53pm) on Saturday and as an experienced professional and sevens rugby player Thompson knows how much of a difference a big, noisy crowd can make.
He continued: “We were up at Scotstoun today and the place is already buzzing and the forecast is looking good so hopefully we will get a big crowd to spur the boys on. We have a tough group so the more support getting behind us the better.”
