Dean Ready To Do His Thing

Less than a year ago Edinburgh Academy’s under-18 captain had led his school side to victory in the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup at Murrayfield and was ready to pack-up and start a chemistry degree at Loughborough University.

Now, Chris Dean, is fully-focused on making his debut for Scotland 7s at the opening tournament of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

He was named earlier this week in Phil Greening’s 12-man squad to travel to the Gold Coast 7s in Australia, which take place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September.

Dean said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that I have been selected, you know, it’s quite surreal that I’ve made the first tour, but it was a goal from the start.

“Players like Turny (Andrew Turnbull), Budgie (Colin Gregor) and Robbo (Mark Robertson) you look-up to them because they really uplift you in training when your body is getting used to the game.

Turny was saying to me you’ve been picked for a reason so don’t be too nervous, just go out and do your thing.
